 The Wattle Wood Springs Suffolk Stud is located at the property ‘Yankaponga' at Wattle Flat, half way between Myponga and Yankalilla in the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula.
Garry and Pauline Gum established the stud in 2006 with the purchase of rams and ewes from Broughton Lodge Suffolk Stud at Crystal Brook and ewes from Pine Ridge Suffolk Stud at Strathablyn. Garry's main aim has been to produce sheep that develop good growth under a variety of conditions.
At birth all lambs are tagged, weighed and identified and their date of birth recorded, and later Lambplan tested.
To date the rams produced at Wattle Wood Springs have shown excellent length and muscle density.
In 2008 Garry purchased a top ram with great length and muscle qualities from the Pine Ridge Suffolk Stud to add further depth to his matings. Added to this in 2009 was a ram from the Allendale stud in Keith that was purchased for its robust frame and strong structure.
